Scene: a curtain set plus a few rostrums.
The kingdoms of Matchos and Libria are separated by a high, almost impassible,
mountain range. Myths have grown up in both countries about the other. In Matchos
the men govern and control everything and their women are accorded no status at all.
Conversely, in Libria, the women run the country and men are regarded as pets to be
pampered. In fact, their life span has been considerably reduced by this treatment
so that a critical shortage of young males has arisen, making an expedition to Matchos
for the capture of new stock a priority. Meanwhile, in Matchos, a different problem has
arisen. Some young women are beginning to question the men's divine right to govern.
The priests explain that this is a punishment from their God, Yahboo, and that a sacrifice
of a young maiden is essential to bring back harmony to their land. Cerebralia is chosen
to be sacrificed and is banished so that she must cross the mountain range to be destroyed
by the warriors of Libria, who are, according to reliable sources, all seven feet high.
Cerebralia, accompanied by her lover, Heros, who has also been exiled for standing up for her,
meet the expedition from Libria. Many myths are exploded and misunderstandings rectified.
They all return to Matchos to convey the good news. However, they are met by hostility and
war ensues. Fortunately, tragedy is averted because the warriors of Matchos desert to the
other side and the two countries become one, Libmatchia.
The play is waiting to be work shopped by a young drama group and
is available for this purpose.
