Claire has separated from her husband, Steve, and is now living with her boyfriend, Derek. Her daughter, Libby, tells Steve that Claire is short of money and is advertising for a lodger.So, while Claire is absent, Steve applies for the room and is accepted by the unsuspecting, Derek. Steve's idea is to stay in the house for a month or two so that Claire can judge both men on their merits and he has no doubts as to the outcome. However, old animosities quickly rear their heads and Claire comes to the conclusion that both men are tarred with very much the same brush and she and Libby walk out. Steve and Derek decide they are better off sharing as batchelors.
